Why is important to learn values? 

Mrs. Judy Ponio wrote a very interesting article titled "Why Are Moral Values ​​Important in Children?" published in the " Our Father’s House Soup Kitchen ", from which we can extract the following very useful teachings to explain the reason for this blog:

The digital lifestyle has affected almost every aspect of our life.

Children learn about right and wrong from TV shows and online videos. And more often than not, those videos are inappropriate for their age. Nor do they teach a moral lesson.

 

Children are like sponges, absorbing everything they see or hear. Therefore, it is necessary to use the same digital media that they see to teach them to develop a character that allows them to be excellent children, friends and citizens in the midst of a society that is increasingly lacking in values.

 

Moral values are personality traits that guide us to make judgments and decisions based on what we think is right or wrong. Since every one of us has different experiences, moral values can vary from person to person. This is why we have different reactions to different kinds of situations. And most of the time, a person’s values are a reflection of the environment they grew up in.

 

These are eight reasons why it is important to learn and practice moral values ​​from childhood:

Ø  It helps you counteract the bad influence of colleagues who have not learned values. If you have a strong moral foundation, you will have more self-confidence and rarely feel the need to follow the example of your peers who are bad influences.

Ø  Having moral values ​​will help you face difficult situations. Children and young people today can suffer from depression due to the stressful situations that can arise. Therefore, you need to know how to distinguish between the good and the bad, so you will make better decisions and have the courage to face any situation.

Ø  It Boosts Self-Confidence. Practicing moral values ​​allows you to have positive relationships with others. You will feel useful and appreciated by the people around you and you will develop self-confidence

Ø  Learning and practicing moral values ​​teaches you to think about others, and to understand that in the world we live in we have a great responsibility to take care of each other and our natural environment in order to have a better society.

To achieve a character that develops the moral values ​​necessary to live in harmony with God and the community, it is necessary for the Holy Spirit to dwell in our hearts and develop its fruit in us.
